Just yesterday I found my series of Russ Tobin books as I was sifting through things before I move abroad to live. I re-read The sewing machine man and am now taking them all with me ! I thought I would google "Stanley Morgan" and found this site. The series was really great I'm not the type to laugh out loud at anything but a one-liner in one of the books whilst I was on a train from London to Glasgow really killed me... I couldn't contain myself or the tea that i had just sippped into my mouth... the receiver wasn't amused. I had to spend the next few hours in the corridor reading my book. Thanks Stanley for a great series !
Stanley Morgan Tuesday, 5 June 2007 21:49
Well thank you for your kind message Gerry. I really love to hear from Russ's readers. I'll send an email to you have a chat about your 'Tobin history'. Very best regards...Stanley

Night Train To Paris has now been officially released on DVD - as has Konga. Unfortunately both these releases are DVD Region 1 (ie North America) so you would need a Region-Free DVD player to watch them anywhere else in the world. Both DVD's can be picked up via Amazon. ScreenCaps are now available in the Film section of this website.
Stanley Morgan Monday, 17 July 2006 11:53
Thanks Rob I'm with you all the way. It has always amazed me that no film has evolved from THE best-selling paperback series of the Seventies. All and any contacts interest and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks for writing.

It has always amazed me why nobody has ever picked up on the phenomena of Russ Tobin as a subject for film. Considering the British public's enduring facination with nostalgia I would have thought that the era value system and serious points raised in the Tobin books could be somehow inspirational in our less substantial modern times. Film companies such as Working Title Handmade etc could have a field-day evoking the style and feel of one of the greatest and most stylish times of recent history ( ooh those flares collars lapels.....sorry bit carried away there). Does anybody have Guy Ritchie's phone number..?

I have always harboured dreams of doing some writing myself. The only trouble is I am so intimidated by the quality of writing by my favourite authors. I thought of writing thriller style. How can I compete with Alistair Maclean Desmond Bagley or Hammond Innes. I could write adventure. I'm sure Clive Cussler or Raymond E Feist are not worried by my competition. How about one of my favourite genres Science Fiction. Arthur C Clark Robert Heinlein or E. E. Doc Smith. Oh well I could always try my hand at comedy. But then there's this guy called Stanley Morgan whose books are so funny and intriging they used to get me into trouble. I'd be sitting on the back of the bus reading a Tobin and constantly choking to stop guffawing and laughing out loud. The only author I know who is THAT funny. You see my dilemma. I am just in awe of these guys. How do you get to be that good? However I will keep plugging away. Everyone had to start somewhere. Once again thankyou from the bottom of my heart. Over the years Tobin has been read and reread mutiple times and always enjoyed. All the best to you and your family from a grateful lifelong fan.
Stanley Morgan Friday, 30 June 2006 23:45
Ah Murray...a thousand thanks for your kind words. But don't you see - you already can write. Plug away. Very best wishes.

Morgan you're gonna get me sacked!! I took Trance into work with me with the intention of reading it on my breaks. I found it so gripping I kept having to sneak off and read a bit more. I found it absolutely fantastic. Compelling stuff. The way the story unfolded was masterly. The scenes changed at just the right time all the way through. As things were developing and I thought how the V's were feeling the very next page you cut to them - perfect timing. I loved the technical stuff that came through about hypnosis - a subject I know nothing about but it was fascinating. It's inspired me to dig a little more into the subject and see what it's all about. So well done once again Stanley. I can't think of any other writer who I've read so many of their books and enjoyed them all so much
Stanley Morgan Sunday, 23 April 2006 21:59
And well done to you Bob. Thank you so much for this great testimonial. If (heaven forbid) you do get the sack you've always got a brilliant future in P.R.

Just found a nice Production Still on the web from "Night Train to Paris" featuring Stan in his trademark Mac! Is that the same one he's wearing in Mr Moto? A shame this film appears to be out of print - if anyone has a copy...?
Stanley Morgan Wednesday, 12 April 2006 01:28
No different Mac Rob. A two-Mac wardrobe was mandatory for us plain-clothes chaps. Same tie though. Not sure about the shirt.

Just when I thought the supply of undiscovered Morgans had dried up - the Star Standard edition of "Inside Albert Shifty" turned up on ebay! I've added the new cover and completed the Albert Shifty review page. Also done a splash screen for first time visitors - a nice montage of all the different books.

Hi Stanley Way back in the 70's I read all th Tobin books virtualy back to back. I loved them and reread a fair few of them. Now nearly 30 years later he's back. I thoroughly enjoyed the new one and it felt like I was being reaquainted with an old friend. A lot of waters gone under the bridge since the 70's but thankfully Russ hasn't changed a bit. I hate the guy cos he pulls more birds than me and now I find I'm now 46 but he's managed to remain in his 20's. Now I loathe him Seriously though thanks again and please do some more. I wonder if you'll gather so many new fans there could be a reprint done of the early books? Best regards Bob
Stanley Morgan Wednesday, 22 March 2006 00:17
Dear Bob Thank you so much for your kind comments. It is my hope that reprints will be done of the early books; in the meantime most of them are available at Amazon.co.uk. I'll drop a personal email to you soon. Very best wishes...Stanley
